Pricing and Delivery

All of my cakes, fillings and frostings are made from scratch, with real butter (no shortening or margarine), no artificial dyes, unbleached and unbromated flour, aluminum free leaveners, with non-GMO and organic ingredients.

Gateau offers 3 types of cakes:

Bakery Cakes, Simply Sweet non-custom cake designs, Custom Cake designs.

I do not offer mini desserts, cookies or cupcakes.

1. Bakery cakes are single tier, 4 layer cakes with a standard design, not customized.

Presentation varies with flavor.

Available in 3 sizes.

Orders can be placed online, with a minimum 7 days notice, and with availability.

Availability is limited during wedding season.

The largest number of cake servings noted for each of the bakery cake sizes is for a serving size 1"x2"x4" tall.

2. Simply Sweet non-custom tiered cake designs.

These tiered cake designs were created to provide a streamlined ordering process for those that want a beautiful cake, that is more cost-effective option than a custom cake design.

Simply Sweet cake designs are not customizable, and they are priced with one cake flavor of your choice from my cake menu for all tiers. Different cake flavors for each tier are available at an additional $25 per flavor.

I do not supply fresh flowers, they are as provided by you or your florist so they match your centerpieces, bouquets and decor, and I place them on the cake at delivery.

Vegan cake flavors are not available on tiered cakes.

Minimum 2 (two) weeks notice, with availability. I book quickly and far in advance for wedding cakes, so please book early.

3. Custom Cakes

There is no standard price list for custom cakes as each cake is unique and therefore individually priced. The cost of your cake is determined by the complexity of the design, whether a buttercream or fondant finish, and the number of servings. I can create designs based on your invitation or bridal gown design, or event theme.

You may provide inspiration photos of cake designs you like, however I do not intend to copy another cake artist's work exactly. I create my version of a desired cake design rather than a literal interpretation, allowing my cakes to breathe their own life and and have the design develop organically.

Custom cake pricing starts at $10 per serving for buttercream designs and $11 per serving for fondant designs, with a $375 minimum due to the attention and detail given to each cake.

Different cake flavors for each cake tier are included in the cost of custom cake designs, if desired.

Sheet Cake

Sheet cake is available for any additional servings needed to supplement a tiered cake.

Sheet cake is a 4" tall tier with 4 layers of cake and 3 filled layers, the same construction as the tiers on a stacked cake. It is given to the caterer at delivery for storage until service time, and is not displayed with the tiered cake. Sheet cake is available in multiple sizes as needed to supplement a tiered cake at $5.50 per serving, $6 per serving for gluten free, dairy free or vegan, with a simple buttercream frosting and is undecorated.

The number of sheet cake servings needed can be adjusted up to 3 weeks before the wedding so you do not have to worry that too much or too little cake was ordered at the time of booking.

Cake Tastings and Consultations

Cake tastings and consultations are scheduled directly through the website, and the process is described here: Consultations and Tastings

Consultations are not required, I also offer pick-up tasting boxes, with four (4) cake flavor samples, $40 per box. Multiple boxes can be ordered for additional flavors.

Gluten free, dairy free and vegan tasting cakes are ordered as 4" round cakes, with 4 layers of cake and 3 filled layers, at $50 each. They are not available as the smaller tasting samples. Each tasting cake can serve up to 4.

Booking Procedure

Once the details are determined, I email a formal estimate for review, and when approved I email an invoice for the deposit amount, with a link for secure online payment.

The non-refundable deposit to book a date is 25% of the total estimated cost. The number of sheet cake servings can be adjusted up to 3 weeks before the event. Changes can be made to the cake design or flavors up to one month before the wedding or event, the paid deposit would be applied to an updated balance amount.

Cake flavor choice is not required at the time of booking.

The final invoice is emailed about 3 weeks prior to the wedding/event for final confirmation of details, and the balance is due 18 days prior.

Wedding cakes book at least 6 (six) to 9 (nine) months in advance and dates fill quickly. A minimum 4 (four) weeks notice is required for any custom order, with availability.

I take a limited number of cakes per week to ensure each cake receives the time and attention needed. I cannot not hold dates and I book on a first paid deposit basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

The non-refundable deposit amount is not a penalty, it covers any initial time and/or materials, and reservation of your event date. Non-refundable deposits cannot be applied to an alternate order or event. Non-refundable deposit amounts are only valid towards the order for the original wedding/event booked, and can be applied to your rescheduled wedding/event, a maximum of 12 months from your initial reserved date. Availability is not guaranteed for rescheduled events, and deposits are not refundable due to lack of availability for a rescheduled event. There are no fees for rescheduled events, however any updated pricing at the time of rescheduling will be applied. Pricing will be reassessed at no less than 5% increase if the event is rescheduled to a date more than 6 months from the listed event date on the invoice, to a maximum of 12 months from the original reserved event date.

Rescheduling of events is only permitted with a minimum 60 days advance notice from the event date and is subject to availability. Gâteau’s availability is not guaranteed for a rescheduled event.

A guaranteed minumum number of cake servings is required at booking.
