Pricing and Delivery

All of my cakes, fillings and frostings are made from scratch, with real butter (no shortening or margarine), no artificial dyes, unbleached and unbromated flour, aluminum free leaveners, with non-GMO and organic ingredients.

*all cake flavors contain gluten, dairy and eggs. Select cake flavors contain nuts, as noted in the flavor description.

Gateau is a bake-to-order bakery, and offers 2 types of cakes:

Simply Sweet non-custom cake designs, Custom Cake designs.

I do not offer mini desserts, cookies or cupcakes.

1. Simply Sweet non-custom tiered cake designs.

These tiered cake designs were created to provide a streamlined ordering process for those that want a beautiful cake, that is more cost-effective option than a custom cake design.

Simply Sweet cake designs are not customizable.

I do not supply fresh flowers, they are as provided by you or your florist so they match your centerpieces, bouquets and decor, and I place them on the cake at delivery.

Sugar flowers are available additionally.

Minimum 2 (two) weeks notice, with availability. I book quickly and far in advance for wedding cakes, so please book early.

2. Custom Cakes

There is no standard price list for custom cakes as each cake is unique and therefore individually priced. The cost of your cake is determined by the complexity of the design, whether a buttercream or fondant finish, and on the overall size of the cake. I can create designs based on stationery patterns, attire accents, or an overall aesthetic concept.

You may provide inspiration photos of cake designs, however I do not intend to copy another cake artist's work exactly. I create my version of a desired cake design rather than a literal interpretation, letting the design come together organically as the cake is assembled.

Custom cake pricing starts at $14 per serving for buttercream designs and $15 per serving for fondant designs, with a $500 order minimum, due to the attention and detail given to each cake.

Sheet Cake / Supplemental Cake

Supplemental cake is available for additional servings as needed to supplement a tiered cake.

Supplemental/sheet cake is a 4" tall tier with 4 layers of cake and 3 filled layers, using the same construction as the tiers on a stacked cake. This cake is given to the caterer upon delivery for storage until service time, and is not displayed with the wedding cake. Supplemental cake in various sizes is available as needed at $7.50 per serving. It includes a simple buttercream frosting and is undecorated.

The number of supplemental cake servings needed can be adjusted up to 3 weeks before the wedding so there's no need to worry about ordering too much or too little cake at the time of booking.

Cake Tastings and Consultations

Cake tastings and consultations are scheduled directly through the website, and the process is described here: Consultations and Tastings

Consultations are not required, I also offer pick-up tasting boxes, with four (4) cake flavor samples, $40 per box. Multiple boxes can be ordered for additional flavors.

Booking Procedure

Once the details are determined, I email a formal estimate for review. To accept and book with Gateau, the deposit amount can be paid securely online via the provided link on the estimate.

The non-refundable deposit to book a date is 25% of the total estimated cost. A minimum guaranteed number of servings is required at booking, but changes can be made to your cake design or flavors up to one month before the event, your paid deposit would be applied to the updated balance amount. Cake flavor choice is not required at the time of booking. The number of sheet cake servings needed can be added and adjusted up to 3 weeks before the event.

The final invoice is emailed about 3 weeks prior to the wedding/event for final confirmation of details, and the balance is due 18 days prior.

Wedding cakes book at least 6 (six) to 9 (nine) months in advance and dates fill quickly. A minimum 4 (four) weeks notice is required for any custom order, with availability.

I take a limited number of cakes per week to ensure each cake receives the time and attention needed. I cannot not hold dates and I book on a first paid deposit basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

The non-refundable deposit amount is not a penalty. The 25% deposit serves as a retainer to cover initial preparation, materials, and date reservation. Deposits are non-refundable under all circumstances and cannot be applied to alternate events or orders. Deposits comprise 25% of the original full order amount, whether or not a separate deposit payment is made.

Rescheduling requires at least 60 days' written notice prior to the original event date and is subject to availability. If rescheduled more than 6 months past the original date, pricing will increase by a minimum of 5%. Events rescheduled beyond 12 months from the original date will be treated as a new order, and the initial deposit will be forfeited.

A guaranteed minumum number of cake servings is required at booking.
